The photographs presented here were made in the northern interior of Portugal across different seasons, during repeated encounters with the deeply rooted tradition of Chegas de Bois. The artist returns to the same situations and spaces at different times, drawn to the bulls, symbols of regional power, and the surrounding mountains. While bullfights are a central element, the work focuses on the broader context of tradition, social interactions, and environment, offering a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the region’s unique cultural landscape.

“I found myself in the same situations, same spaces, but at different times, drawn to the bulls, symbols of the region and power, and the mountains.”
