Je ne regrette rien

Maria Munzi loves working with mystery and ambiguity in her photographs. She documents surreal moments, leaving the viewer questioning what is real and what is just an illusion. Her ongoing project Je ne regrette rien creates a playful mix of dreams, reality and humour.

“My purpose throughout this project is that the spectator mixes, at least for a while, reality with fiction. That the images break up the usual paradigms of interpretation, to introduce the doubt that everyday life (natural scenes), might be a sort of dream, of fantasy.”

“I am interested in documenting the surreal scenes that appear daily. Allowing mystery, irony and tension to obtain the depth they deserve.”
